DAILY ETHICS MOSAIC January 10 - February 9, 2022 at Wilson Hall Atrium - W&L University

A 14’ x 14’ community artwork generated by W&L students, staff, and faculty in a series of workshops during the Fall Term of 2021. This project was a collaborative venture with the Mudd Center and Staniar Gallery. First participants were invited to complete a workbook before hand, prompting introspection about important personal values and how they could be actualized in daily life. Then during workshops, they visually represented these themes on an 8” paper square that, when completed, were photographed. Since living an ethical life is both an individual and collective enterprise, workshop participants then deconstructed and merged their individual pieces with others to craft a mosaic reflecting a shared vision and aesthetic. The large-scale community artwork, installed in the Wilson Hall Atrium, consists of group mosaics as well as individual work. Images of all components of the mosaic are provided here.

More images and information to come. Artist talk available here.

In March the piece will move to Leyburn Library for display before it and all related ephemera, documentation, etc. enters the University's museum and special collections.
