I am so bad about posting updates here… NEW YEAR = NEW EXHIBITION!

Yesterday I installed my next solo exhibition, ANTIQUITY SECOND HAND, at Piedmont Arts, a VMFA affiliate Museum in Martinsville, VA. The show runs from Saturday January 27 through Saturday March 16. It's made up of 10 selected works from a larger body of work made from used and/or discarded album covers. The opening reception is Friday January 26 at 5:30pm, with gallery/artist talks beginning at 6:15pm. By February I will have a page up dedicated to this exhibition. In the meantime, if you’re near Martinsville, I hope you’ll find time to stop by and check it out.

My first big show of 2023 opens in a month at Quirk Richmond. Future Past will be in the Pink Gallery May 11 through July 9. There are 40 works in total, all either made from used Barry Manilow - Barry LP covers or discarded library materials from VCU's Cabell Library. More info soon. Hope you’ll come see it.

Monster Drawing Rally returns tomorrow!!! After 3 years of being stuck online, we’re back at 1708 Gallery, Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 12:00 - 5:30 pm. Visitors may purchase completed works of art for $100 each. Artists receive 50% commission. Proceeds support 1708 Gallery’s exhibitions and programs. I’m in the third shift from 3:15 - 4:15 and I’ll be making something total new from 1950s US postage stamps! Hope to see you there!

More to come…

Even 2020 can’t stop my two favorite Richmond art events!

First off, we have the third installment of the Bling It Out Biennial at Iridian Gallery. This time around I made a piece out of books from Diversity Thrift. The auction begins Dec 10 at 6pm, when the exhibition opens to the public and goes live on Instagram. Bidding continues online until Dec 17 at 12pm EST and need to be made in multiples of $10. Identical bids will favor the one that is timestamped earlier.

Second, it’s 1708’s Monster Drawing Rally from home. On Saturday, December 12th, “drawings” will be posted in batches on Instagram every 5 minutes from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Buyers will purchase directly from 1708's online store. “Drawings” will be sold to the first buyer to put the it in their cart and make a purchase. All drawings are $100; artists will receive a 50% commission. I have two pieces in this one.

Get yourself some art and support nonprofit art spaces while your at it!

I have another piece in another virtual show, but this one is very different from the rest… a fully interactive virtual gallery. Touchstone Gallery in DC presents “Us: What divides us and what unites us?” an international juried exhibit up from Friday, September 18 - Tuesday, November 3. You can take a look HERE.

COVID BE DAMNED

I have 3 pieces in “Systems Approach,” a group exhibition curated by Alex Paik of Tiger Strikes Asteroid and Kate Mothes of Young Space. You can take a look HERE.

And I have 1 piece in “Pretty in Pink,” a group exhibition from Treat Gallery. You can view it HERE.

Due to COVID-19, many 2020 plans were delayed, changed, or cancelled. However, new work continues to get made, so if anyone is interested in a studio visit, be it in person or virtual, get in touch. In the meantime, the Taubman Museum has announced that the Homeward Bound Triennial has been moved to late next year. It will now be on view from November 6, 2021 through March 6, 2022. You can get addition information HERE.

My piece Looking for Answers Concealed with Elegant Diction has been selected to participate in the Taubman Museum of Art’s 2019-20 triennial Homeward Bound, juried by Nandini Makrandi, chief curator of the Hunter Museum of American Art.
