Saturday December 15th is going to be a big day in Richmond! My two favorite art events!

First, Monster Drawing Rally at 1708 Gallery from 12:30 to 5pm. The creative spectacle returns! All artwork will be sold for $65. I’ll be in the second heat. 59 other Richmond artists will be joining me throughout the day.

Second, Bling It Out at Iridian Gallery at Diversity Richmond from 7 to 10pm. A special upcycled art auction event featuring 40 artists and juried by Paige Goodpasture of Look See. I’m really proud of the piece I made, so plan on coming out!

I have a new piece, The Backbone of Night (2018), up at the Carl Sagan show at Gallery 5. It opens Friday November 9th with a benefit for Thomas Jefferson High School’s Planetarium restoration. Up through November 28th.

Secret Histories has been taken down from Artspace, but will be installed the first week of September at Falk Gallery at Christopher Newport University in Newport News VA. It's up from September 7th - November 5th with an opening reception on September 26th. 

I've got a solo exhibition coming up at Artspace Richmond titled Secret Histories. It's on view July 27 - August 19 in the Main Gallery. Opening reception Friday July 27, 6 - 9 pm. Artist talk around 7 pm. Featuring a ton of mixed media collages made from discarded library materials, sculptures made from vinyl records, and weak hand blind contour drawings on paper. I'm doing the second shift (2:10-3:10) at Monster Drawing Rally Saturday December 9 at 1708 Gallery. My favorite event of the year. 12:30-5:00. 3 hour shifts. 60+ artists. Everything is $65.

The first Curriculum Lab workshop trial happened at the Richmond Performing Arts Alliance last week. Trial number two will take place at Richmond Young Writers on Sunday July 23rd from 2 to 5 pm. You can sign your 11 to 17 year old up for it HERE. More opportunities to come...

My warped vinyl piece Hive Mind will be up at Sulfur Studios in Savannah GA as a part of the group show Pieced Together. Fellow Richmond artist and friend Blythe King also has a piece up along with 25 others from around the globe. Opens June 15th. Runs through July 1st. If you're around, check it out. More info HERE

NYC : My new piece, Collective Memory, is up at Site:Brooklyn for Cut and Paste: Contemporary Collage, February 25th - March 19th. Opening reception is Wednesday March 1st, 165 7th St. You can find more information here and here

 

I have a set of collages available in this year's Within Reach auction and exhibition at artspace, some of the last of the hands I made from date due slips in 2015. I have a new sculpture, Who Do You See? What Do You See?, in the Black Lives Matter Art Exhibition at First UUC - 1000 Blanton Ave, Richmond. 30 artists from a variety of backgrounds have been included in the show. Opens Friday Feb 3 and is up through March 24.

I will also have a new collage, Collective Autonomy, in Now See Us, Hear Us at Sediment Arts, a community response to the social political climate of the moment. Up through February 19th.

I will also be making work live on December 10th at 1708 Gallery's Monster Drawing Rally. I'm in the third heat from 3:20 to 4:20. Everything is $65 and I plan on doing a few larger pieces that would normally go for $500 or more. Don't miss it!
